Platteville man arrested after scuffling with police

A 20-year-old Platteville man faces three charges after he was arrested following an altercation with police Friday evening.

William J. McGettigan faces charges of criminal damage to property, resisting or obstructing an officer, and disorderly conduct after the incident at 180 E. Cedar Street around 9:10 p.m.

A caller reported an “out-of-control intoxicated roommate,” police said. After the person became combative, a Taser was used.

McGettigan was taken to a hospital before he was transported to the Grant County Jail.

•    What was reported as a fight to police resulted in two tickets and a warrant arrest early Sunday morning.

Police were called to Third Street and Mineral Street around 2:45 a.m. for a report of a fight. The officers found only a verbal argument taking place, according to police.

Police ticketed Jasmine E. Kruse-Clemons, 19, Dubuque, for underage drinking and underage drinking on a licensed premise. An additional unnamed person was taken to the Grant County Jail on a warrant.

•    A 20-year-old Ocala, Fla., man was arrested on a probation hold in the parking lot at Piggly Wiggly, 255 McGregor Plaza, Friday evening.

A caller told police she saw a man pass a newly purchased bottle of liquor to another man, who put the bottle into a drawstring bag, in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot around 8:50 p.m.

Christopher A. Ramos was arrested on a probation hold. Ramos will also be cited for underage possession of alcohol, police said.

Officer Nathan Coleman

Chief Billy J. Jones would like to introduce Officer Nathan Coleman.  Nathan Coleman is the son of Tom and Brenda Coleman, of Richland Center.  Nathan graduated from the Richland Center High School in 2018. Throughout high school, Nathan was involved in many different sports and now he spends most of his free time hunting or fishing. Nathan hopes to get involved with youth sports as a coach whether that be in wrestling, basketball, or football. 

Nathan recently graduated from the 720-hour Law Enforcement Academy at Southwest Technical College in Fennimore and is excited to be able to give back to his hometown by working for the Richland Center Police Department. 

Nathan is currently in phase two of the Police Department’s 14-week field training program and can’t wait to be out on his own serving the community. Please help welcome Officer Coleman to the Police Department and to the City of Richland Center by waving or saying hi if you see him out and about.
