Crash occurs after man falls asleep while driving

A 20-year-old Readstown man’s vehicle crashed on Hwys. 14/61/27 after he fell asleep at the wheel March 27.

According to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office in Viroqua, at 11:17 a.m. Kyle Turner was southbound  in a pick-up truck near the intersection of Co. JJ in Franklin township when he fell asleep while driving.

His vehicle crossed the center line, went into a ditch and overturned.

Turner was wearing a seat belt. He declined transportation to a medical facility.

Assisting at the scene were the Viroqua Police Department, Viroqua Fire Department, Tri-State Ambulance and the Readstown Fire Department.

The crash is under investigation.
