Paddler safety issue broached at board meeting
LOWER WISCONSIN RIVER – Lower Wisconsin State Riverway Board (LWSRB) executive director Mark Cupp reported a paddler safety issue had popped up near Sauk City. The area contains a dangerous stretch of the river, and construction of the new Sauk Recreational Bridge may be presenting challenges for paddlers navigating that stretch of the river.

Research project aims to understand Sculpin fish speciesDRIFTLESS – UW-La Crosse River Studies Center graduate student Evan Sirianni has launched a study aimed at identifying habitat in streams for the Mottled Sculpin and Slimy Sculpin in the Kickapoo River drainage. In addition, the study will identify the way different species of fish are distributed and coexist with-in a particular environment. These patterns are influenced by a combination of factors, including habitat features, water quality, food availability, and the interactions between fish species.June 11, 2025

Watershed Council collaborates with Gays Mills around sewer plant challengesTAINTER CREEK – The Tainter Creek Water-shed Council (TCWC) assembled about 10 members for a meeting with Gays Mills Village President Harry Heisz and Village Trustee Ethan Eitsert from the Gays Mills Village Board on Wednesday, May 7.
