Canoe Festival approves carnival

DARLINGTON—Kyle Masbruch, president, called the Darlington Canoe Festival Committee special “emergency” meeting to order Monday, April 10, 2017.
Canoe Fest found out in March that their long-standing carnival, Spectrum Carnival, would not be present at this years festival. On short notice Canoe Fest found interest from another carnival, Tri-State Amusements of Spooner. The committee received some background information about the carnival. The carnival has fifteen rides (including a bungee jump, scrambler, merry-go-round, etc.), food vendors (pizza wagon), etc.  After much discussion a motion was made by Candi Fitzsimmons to book Tri-State Amusements. Motion passed unanimously.
Pedal Tractor Pull – the committee ran into time conflicts with the northern tractor pull outfit. The committee had the tractor pull slated for Saturday, which was already booked by tractor pull. Tractor pull wanted to have the event after the parade on Sunday. The committee didn’t think that would work out very well.
Matt Crist runs a pedal tractor pull for the fair and members were wondering if he could run his version of pedal tractor pull for Canoe Fest on Saturday. Crist will be contacted.
Darlington Idol - a time change was approved. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the show will begin at 7:00 p.m. The committee thought if the show starts earlier and finishes earlier, that may attract more spectators.
