Friends of KVR Holiday Happening is Dec. 5

The annual Friends of the Kickapoo Valley Reserve Holiday Happening is scheduled for Dec. 5 at the Visitor Center from 1-8:30 p.m.

For the first time, KVR Friends members will be displaying craft items for sale from 1-7 p.m. Featured items include knit items, jams, teas, adult coloring books, wooden spoons and walking sticks, ornaments and cards, hand woven pieces and other gift items. The traditional Cookie Walk featuring a large selection of homemade treats will be open at the same time.

Local musicians will perform as follows: The Viroqua Bell Choir,  3-3:30 p.m.; Kickapoo Schools, 3:30-4 p.m.; La Farge Band 4:30-5 p.m., Brookwood Band, 5-5:30 p.m.; Pam Hughes’ string students, 5:30-6 p.m. A performance by the local band, Whiskey Chicken, begins at 7 p.m.

Star gazing runs from 6-8 p.m. A telescope will be set up and KVR astro-educators will be available to answer questions about the night sky. Winners of the 2015 Photography Contest will be announced at 6:30 p.m.

A soup, salad and bread dinner will be served from 5-7 p.m. Fee for dinner is $5 for adults and $3 for children.
