Second Day on the Farm Saturday

The Platteville Regional Chamber and Digman Grain Farms will hold their second annual “Day on the Farm” at 1291 College Farm Road in the Town of Platteville Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Admission is free.

The first event in 2016 was created to promote agriculture heritage, showcase ag-related businesses and promote area ag-tourism organizations and destinations.

The day will be filled with educational opportunities for all ages, including demonstrations on canning, cooking, textiles, straw bale gardening, juicing, and farm safety.  The Platteville High School FFA will hold the Ag Olympics. Other events will include a cake walk, petting zoo, kids games including a scavenger hunt, and milking and cow birthing simulators. A rain simulator and composting will also be demonstrated.

Wagon rides are being provided from My Tires and the Town of Platteville building to the farm.  The Blockhouse Builders 4-H will host a food stand. A number of vendors will have free treats,including ice cream, root beer, cheese and milk.

Pioneer Ford Sales and Building Platteville, Inc. are hosting a “Drive 4 UR Community” fundraiser, where with a free test drive of a Ford car, rruck or SUV Pioneer Ford will donate $20 to the Building Platteville organization for its Katie’s Winter Wonderland holiday event.
