A rural Genoa man became Vernon County’s third traffic fatality of 2015 early April 19 after a one-vehicle rollover.

In a press release, the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office in Viroqua  said the crash which killed 28-year-old Daniel Deflorian  occurred in Genoa township on State Hwy. 56, west of Romance.

Vernon County Dispatch received a call at approximately 1:51 a.m. from a passerby, who located the vehicle over an embankment on its side.
Deflorian was dead when first responders arrived on scene. The Sheriff’s Office said Deflorian was westbound when he lost control of his vehicle crossing the centerline.

The vehicle continued through a guardrail and down a steep embankment rolling to its rest on the passenger side.

Deflorian, who  was not wearing his seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. He was its only occupant.

Deflorian’s death comes one week after Preston Nelson, 19, of Soldiers Grove died in a two-vehicle crash early April 12 near Readstown.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office, the Vernon County Coroner’s Office, and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
