The Platteville Common Council voted Sept. 24 to set fees for city services for 2014.

Several fees are increasing. Class A beer licenses are increasing from $100 to $150. One- and two-year bartender licenses are increasing by $5. The fireworks dealer license is doubling from $100 to $200.

A new hotel/motel permit of $100 is part of the fee schedule.

The city’s Non-Sufficient Funds charge is increasing from $25 to $35.

Plumbing, ventilation and electrical permit fees are increasing from 3 cents per square foot to 12 cents per square foot.

The complete list of fee increases can be read at http://216.56.16.162:8080/City%20Council/2013-9-24/VI.A.%20RES%20Fee%20Schedule.pdf.

The council voted to approve the fee schedule except for a proposed increase in the rental inspection fee from $90 to $115.

The $25 jump “seems excessive comnpared with other licenses,” said Common Council President Eileen Nickels, who said she owns rental properties.
