Bruce and Sandy Russell, co-owners of neighboring business Kingsley Crossing, have opened up a floral and gift shop, Ila Rose, located at 246 W. Water Street. Named for Bruce’s and Sandy’s grandmothers, the shop not only has wonderful florals, with some flowers being local, but also gifts for any home.

“My husband always wanted to do florals,” Sandy explained. “He felt like there was a need for it in town. Other flower shops have come and gone so we said if we were to open one we needed to be more diversified.”

With the help of her superb staff, Sandy is learning to make fresh flower and plant arrangements for occasions such as funerals, birthdays and anniversaries.

“Our goal is to make the florals more personal for the person by adding items that really meant something to someone such as a recipe for someone who liked to cook or for that uncle that enjoys old trucks,” Sandy said.

For those dealing with chemotherapy, Sandy has dedicated a special section she has titled ‘A Touch of Comfort and Care’ which has lotions, lip balm, soaps, hats and encouraging thoughts.

A Touch of Comfort and Care aims to treat women who have been dealing with cancer.

“I tried to find a friend a care package that was going through cancer and I felt I struggled to find the right stuff. She inspired me to create this corner.”

With family in the name of the business, Sandy and Bruce hope to keep family in mind when creating that special something for someone else’s family.

If you can’t stop by during their open hours of Monday through Friday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.-3 p.m., then give them a call at 608-965-8505.
