Boscobel School District high school and middle school students welcomed area veterans and community members for a Veterans Day ceremony honoring service members last Wednesday, Nov. 11.

Students interviewed four Korean War veterans and presented their stories for those in attendance. The veteran interviews began last year with WW II veterans. According to program organizer Russ Atkinson, the students will continue next year, interviewing any additional Korean veterans identified and then starting on Vietnam veterans.

Atkinson said he is part of a team of teachers and advisors who work with Joe Ricco and other VFW personnel to put the program on each year. When possible, they attempt to match civic-minded students with veterans with whom they have a connection, such as a relative or family friend.

Pictured, from left, are the students with the veterans they interviewed: Allie Pickett, Tom Iverson, Fritz Curtis, Rachel Biba, Chris Gebhard, Ashlea Gebhard, James Hestead, and Molly Pegram.
