DICKEYVILLE—A new childcare facility in Dickeyville was opened to the public on Aug. 8. The community was invited to tour Country Care Children’s Center, located on Pitzen Lane.

Owner Gail Pitzen started construction on the property in December 2016. The new facility has four classrooms and is licensed for children 6 weeks to 12 years old.

“I have a great staff hired,” Pitzen said. “It is a needed service for this area.”

The facility features child-sized bathroom stalls, a meeting area for teachers and parents, a kitchen with a library area for older children and a large fenced-in play area with playground equipment.

“I’m hoping for community involvement,” Pitzen said. “We are already collaborating with the library.”

Brickl Memorial Library is going to visit Country Care to read to the children and possibly provide a way for children to check out books.

Pitzen previously had a daycare in Dickeyville for approximately 16 years that was licensed for eight children. The new facility will allow for approximately 40 children. She still has openings for children over 2 years old.

Pitzen anticipates the facility being open on Sept. 1, after the final inspections are completed.

Country Care Children’s Center is located at 3514 Pitzen Lane, south of Dickeyville. The facility will be open 6:15 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. All teaching staff are CPR certified and trained in Shaken Baby Syndrome and SIDS prevention.
