A 21-year-old Platteville man is now facing a fourth set of felony charges in a third county.

Hunter James Theisen was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia to manufacture, compound, convert, produce or store methamphetamine, possession or attempted possession of a controlled substance on or near certain places, and three counts of felony bail jumping.

Faith A. Hoffman, 31, Belmont, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and felony bail jumping.

Theisen and Hoffman were arrested after Iowa County deputies and K9 Sam responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle Aug. 8 around 6:25 a.m. Deputies conducted a traffic stop near Drury Street in Highland.

Charges had not been filed as of Monday morning, according to court records.

Theisen is charged in Grant County with possession of methamphetamine, possession of THC and possession of drug paraphernalia, all with repeat-offender sentence enhancers.

Theisen was arrested after a traffic stop on what Platteville police called a person “known to have a suspended driver’s license” at Lutjen Place and May Street June 22 around 9:05 a.m.

Theisen was bound over for trial and stood mute to the charges July 18. Not-guilty pleas were entered on his behalf, according to court records. A status conference is scheduled for Oct. 11.

A $1,000 signature bond was set at Theisen’s first court appearance June 23 with the condition he not possess or consume controlled substances.

Theisen also faces burglary of a building or dwelling, misdemeanor theft of up to $2,500, resisting or obstructing an officer, possession of THC, and four counts of felony bail jumping, for an incident July 20.

All those charges also have repeat-offender sentence enhancers.

Theisen was bound over for trial Aug. 3 and stood mute to the charges. Not-guilty pleas were entered on Theisen’s behalf.

Bond was set at $250 cash with the condition he not have any contact with the victim at Theisen’s first court appearance July 21. A status conference also will be held Oct. 11.

Theisen is also charged with possession of methamphetamine in Vilas County for an incident July 13. His adjourned initial appearance is scheduled for Sept. 11.

Bond was set at $500 cash with the conditions he have no hypodermic needles or medication without a prescription, neither possess nor consume alcohol and maintain absolute sobriety at his initial appearance June 14.

Hoffman agreed to a deferred prosecution agreement in December 2021 after she pleaded no contest to Iowa County charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine paraphernalia, and second-offense possession of THC. Charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia were dismissed, according to court records.

All the charges had repeat-offender sentence enhancers, according to court records.

A motion hearing is scheduled for Sept. 12. 

Hoffman was placed on four years probation in April 2020 after she pleaded no contest to Lafayette County charges of party to possession with intent of 10 to 50 grams methamphetamine and felony bail jumping.
