There will be two programs /ceremonies this upcoming Veterans Day on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
The traditional Veterans Day program will be held at the Fennimore High School and Middle School gym on Nov. 11 at 10:25 a.m. All community members are invited to attend.
The program’s schedule of events is as follows:
1. Advancement of Colors by members of American Legion Whitish-Funk Post 184
2. National Anthem—High School Concert Choir and Mixed Ensemble
3. The Armed Forces Medley—Combined Middle School Band and High School Band
4. To Those Who Serve—Middle School Mixed Ensemble
5. Student Speaker—Piper Lewis
6. America The Beautiful—High School Concert Choir
7. A moment of silence for departed veterans and victims of wars and terrorist attacks
8. Retirement of Colors by members of American Legion Whitish-Funk Post 184
Afterwards, all community members are also invited over to Memorial Park for a special unveiling of a new memorial tablet to go along with the existing ones displayed in the park.
After a brief speech by American Legion Whitish-Funk Post 184 Commander Curt Cole, the memorial tablet will be unveiled, displayed with the names of Fennimore military residents “killed in action” serving their country.
The tablet was ordered through American Signs and Designs, Boscobel, and installed in the park on Oct. 27. Cole stated the Legion decided to wait until Veterans Day to unveil the memorial tablet to public.
The program at Memorial Park, located next to the Memorial Building, should begin at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Veterans Day.
