John R. Nelson, 85, formerly of Lemont, Ill passed awy on Saturday, February 25, 2017 in Palmview Texas after a short illness. Memorial services were held on March 25, 2017 at the Lemont United Methodist Church in Lemont, Ill. For a complete Obituary please see the April 27 issue of the Crawford County Independent.

CASSVILLE - John Okey, a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and lifelong carpenter, passed away on May 3, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him. He was 61 years young.  A celebration of John's life will be held this Friday, May 9th, 2025, at J&J Sandbar from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor John's memory by taking a moment to enjoy the outdoors, share a meal with someone you love, or simply sit in the fresh air and reflect. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Cassville is assisting the family.
