Lucille E. Sandy, 93, passed away at St. Elizabeth Nursing Home on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025. She was born Apr. 22, 1932, in La Crosse, WI, to Andrew and Anna E. (Bean) Knutson. On Apr. 26, 1958, she married Arthur L. Sandy at Freeman Lutheran Church in Ferryville, WI and he would precede her in death on Jan 25, 2000.

Lucille grew up on a farm along Rush Creek in Ferryville, WI and graduated from Seneca High School.  Lucille was a member of the Red Rock River Valley Hatties, loved basketball and traveling with her family.  She was known for her BBQ, apple pie, listening skills and always having time to share a cup of coffee.

Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 9, 2026, at the Apfel Wolfe Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at a later date in the Sunset Memorial Gardens, Rockford, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Freeman Lutheran Church 60308 County Road B, Ferryville, WI 54628.
