 Michael J. Engelke, 52,  Platteville, died on Aug. 13, 2011 in New Diggings, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
     Michael was born on Feb. 13, 1959 in Platteville, the son of James and Ann (McClain) Engelke.  He graduated from Belmont High School in 1977.  Mike farmed his entire life and also worked for Elk Grove Township.  He served on the Wisconsin Corn Growers Board, and he also sold Pioneer Seed Corn.  In his free time he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson.
     He is survived by his sons, Reed (Kari) Engelke, Middleton; Jacob (Katie Reichling) Engelke, Platteville; their mother, Sheri Engelke; granddaughter, Zoe Engelke; parents, James and Ann Engelke, Platteville; two sisters, Susi Engelke, St. Charles, Mo.; Karen (Wayne) Casper, Cambridge; special friend, Laurie Fink, Darlington.
     Private family services were held Aug. 17 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Yellowstone.  Father David Wanish officiated.  Private burial was at the Belmont Cemetery. The Melby-Bendorf Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, served the family. Memorials may be made to the Michael J. Engelke memorial fund.
