Lavon C. Updike, 59, Mt. Horeb and formerly of Boscobel, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at his brother's home in Cassville.
He was born on Sept. 7, 1951 in Boscobel, the son of Mahlon and Sandy (Miller) Updike.
He had been employed as a bridge construction foreman and most recently by Walmart.
He attended Boscobel United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Updike, of Mt. Horeb; two daughters, Christy Kreul and fiancé, Terry Wehler, Prairie du Sac and Olivia (Benjamin) Thomas, De Forest; a son, Dustin (Michaela) Updike, Mt. Horeb; grandchildren, Kelsey Kreul, Malin Thomas, Kolton Wehler, a sister, Barb (Thomas) Nicholson, Boscobel; four brothers, Leonard Updike, Cassville, Ron (Sue) Updike, Boscobel, Bryce (Deb) Updike, Woodman, and Royce (Vanessa) Updike, Flat Rock, Ala.; his parents, Mahlon and Sandy Updike, Boscobel; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
"Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever. Love always and forever."
Services will be held Friday, Aug. 26, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, 104 Buchanan St., Boscobel with Pastor Stan Pegram officiating. Burial will be at the Hickory Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday, Aug. 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. or one hour prior to service time at the church.
The Beeman-Patchak Funeral Home of Boscobel is assisting the family with the arrangements.

POTOSI - Richard “Rick” E. Sedbrook, age 67, of Potosi Wisconsin, died on Sunday May 25, 2025, surrounded by his family.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster with Pastor Lance Wetter officiating.  Family and friends may visit on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.  Following the service, everyone is invited to the Lancaster United Methodist Church for food and fellowship.
