William “Bill” P. McArdle, 71, of Galena, Ill. passed away Friday, Sept. 23, 2016 at Midwest Medical Center, Galena. Funeral services were held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016 at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena. A celebration of life continued at 7 p.m. at Fried Green Tomatoes, 213 North Main Street, Galena. Cremation rites will follow the service and burial will be held at a later date. He was born March 11, 1945 in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Thomas and Jeanette (Look) McArdle. Bill graduated from Shullsburg High School with the class of 1963. He was united in marriage to Karen Voigts on April 15, 1972 at St. Philomena Church, Belmont. He is the owner of Twenty-Four Hour Care and CDI of Galena. He enjoyed racing late model dirt track, fishing, boating, golfing, travelling, motorcycles, trains and western movies. Bill was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Bill will best be remembered by his family and friends for telling stories while enjoying a good ole cigar. He is survived by his wife, Karen, his son, Jeff McArdle of Madison, his daughter, Kelly McArdle of Galena, four grandchildren, Shane, Mackenzie, Sam and Sophia, a brother, John (Denise) McArdle of Oklahoma City, Okla., two sisters, Susan (Gary) Weiskircher of Shullsburg and Betsy (Dieter) Mueller of Houston, Texas and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
