Brody Digman, Jr., QB, Platteville football
MINERAL POINT —Junior Brody Digman piled up 406 yards of total offense and five total touchdowns to lead Platteville to a 41–14 non-conferece victory at Mineral Point Friday night.
“Brody had an incredible night both throwing and running the football and a huge part of that was our offensive line,” said first-year Platteville head coach Isaiah Altfillisch, who also earned his first career head coaching victory. “They gave him time to make reads in the passing game and opened lanes for him to use his legs. His ability to extend plays adds another layer to our offense, but it all starts up front. When our line plays like that, it makes everyone around them better.”
Digman completed 16 of 21 passes for 270 yards and four touchdowns, and rushed for a game-high 136 yards, including a 83-yard TD run with 5:21 left in the third quarter.
Four minutes later, Digman’s elusiveness led to another touchdown, after he scrambled his way out of a sack and found senior Jauron Blevins in the end zone for a 7-yard TD pass with 29 seconds left in the first half to give Platteville a 28–14 halftime lead.
Digman threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to senior Myron Reuter on the game’s opening drive, and added a 8-yard TD pass to Reuter early in the second quarter. Reuter finished the game with seven catches for 108 yards, while Blevins caught five balls for 71 yards.
Digman also threw a short swing pass to senior Tyler Sasse, who turned it into a 70-yard touchdown pass and a 34–14 Platteville lead with 1:26 left in the third. Sasse also converted 5 of 6 extra point attempts, rushed for 58 yards on a 14 carries, and made a team-high 11 tackles to lead the Platteville defense.
Platteville (1–1) will open SWC play Friday night at Prairie du Chien (0–2) at 7 p.m. The Blackhawks are coming off a 26–14 loss at Darlington (2–0).
