BOYS BASKETBALL: Lancaster 62, Potosi/Cassville 45

Arrows fly past Chieftains in non-conference game
POTOSI — Lancaster and Potosi/Cassville met up for a non-conference boys’ basketball contest during the holiday break this past Monday night, where coach Brian Knapp’s Flying Arrows maintained an undefeated record with a 62–45 victory.

With the win, Lancaster improved to 6–0 early in the season, while coach Mike Uppena’s co-op squad slipped to 3–3 overall with the loss.

First-half action saw the host PC boys jump out to an early 5–0 lead over the Arrows, only to see Lancaster slowly separate themselves from their opponent as the opening session progressed.

A buzzer-beating 3-pointer by P/C senior Alex Friederick pulled the home team to within 30–23 heading into the intermission.

Just as the first half had ended, the second half began with another 3-pointer by Friederick, making the score 30–26.

But, similar to the first half, Lancaster slowly pulled away from their opponent in the second, hanging on for a 62–45 road win.

 Lancaster senior forward Zach Hermsen led all scorers with 22 points, scoring 13 in the second half, while fellow senior Taylor Williams was close behind with 18 points, scoring 12 in the first half.

Senior Brady Mack chipped in nine points for the Arrows, knocking down a 3-pointer and going a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line in the second half.

Coach Uppena’s co-op squad was led by senior Alex Friederick, who scored 13 points, 10 of which came in the second  half.

Junior Aaron Edge was close behind with 11 points, followed by Sam and Ben Infield who both chipped in six points.
