Potosi senior Oliver Post was recently named one of only 16 boys statewide to receive the 2025 WIAA Scholar–Athlete Award.

Post, who graduated May 17 with a 4.0 G.P.A, was a three-time Six Rivers Conference champion in both football and basketball, as well as a first-team all-conference athlete in football and an honorable mention pick on the hardwood as a senior.

He averaged 8.4 points, 6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game as one of the Chieftains' best perimeter defenders, while helping Potosi post a 22–5 overall record and a 17–2 mark in the SRC to win a share of a third-straight conference title. He was a three-year starter on the hardwood.

Post earned WFCA first-team All-State honors in football last fall after catching 29 passes for 616 yards and 5 touchdowns — all team highs — to help the Potosi/Cassville co-op (13–1, 7–0 SRC) win a fourth straight conference title and advance to the WIAA Division 7 state championship game for just the second time in school history.

He was also two-year WIAA state qualifier in track & field, placing eighth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.38 seconds) and 300-meter hurdles (school record 40.67) two weekends ago in La Crosse. Two weeks ago Post won sectional titles in both hurdle events setting a new school records in both the 110 (15.32) and 300 hurdles (40.83) at the D3 Bangor Sectional. He was also this year's Six Rivers Conference champion in the 110 hurdles (15.69), 300 hurdles (school record 42.72) and the 4x400 relay (school record 3:42.46).

Post shared in his essay, “Both academics and athletics have shown me that success is not just about talent, but also about effort, adaptability, and persistence. Whether in my future career or personal life, these lessons will guide me in overcoming obstacles, working with others, and striving for excellence.”

Post plans to attend UW–Platteville in the fall.

This year, more than 800 seniors were nominated by 413 high schools across Wisconsin for this honor.
