The Lancaster wrestling team went 5–0 at the SWC Duals Tournament in Richland Center Friday, Jan. 9 to win the SWC duals title.

RICHLAND CENTER – With a perfect record of 5-0, the Lancaster boys’ wrestling team took top honors at last Friday night’s Southwest Wisconsin Conference Duals held at Richland Center High School.

Individually, coach Tyson Wolf had six wrestlers go undefeated on the night, led by senior Nolan Hanke who went 5-0 with five pins.

Juniors Jackson Seippel and Will Kratochvill also went 5-0 on the night with Seippel having three pins and two forfeits, and Kratochvill two pins and three forfeits.

Going 4-0 on the night was freshman Gabe Wagner with two pins and two forfeits, while junior Trayton McLimans was 3-0 with two pins and a forfeit, and senior Brady Lawinger 2-0 with one forfeit and one decision.

The Flying Arrows first took the mat against the host Hornets, scoring 63 points on six forfeits, four pins and one decision, while giving up 13 points off one pin, one major decision and one regular decision.

Next up for the Arrows was River Valley, who gave up 66 points on five pins, four forfeits, one technical fall, one major decision and one regular decision. The Arrows gave up just 12 points off two pins.

In a 48-36 victory over Dodgeville, Lancaster recorded four pins and received four forfeits, while the Dodgers picked up pins in six weight classes.

Lancaster’s last two matches were their toughest, which included a 39-35 victory over Prairie du Chien, and a 43-42 victory over Belmont/Platteville that came down to a tie-breaker.

Against Prairie du Chien, Lancaster scored 39 points on four pins, two forfeits and one decision, while giving up 35 points off four pins, two major decisions and one regular decision.

Against Belmont/Platteville, the Arrows scored 42 points on six pins and one forfeit, while the co-op team scored 42 points on seven pins, but lost the match to a tie-breaker.

The Lancaster boys will next host River Valley this Thursday night, then will participate at MFL Mar-Mac on Saturday.
