Throughout August, Rountree Gallery’s Artist of the Month display at Clare Bank in Platteville will feature the artwork collection of Lisa Humke of Dodgeville.

Humke’s work consists of mixed media sculptures and paintings bases on family, social, and political issues.

“In my art, I enjoy using a variety of different media,” said Humke. “I find that one medium limits my ability to achieve the rich textures and layers I want. I love working with my hand to construct 3-dimensional and relief work. When I come up with a concept I like to reinterpret the world around me through the use of layered symbols, colors, and textures.”

Humke is the art teacher at Riverdale High School in Muscoda. Her students inspire her work and push her to find new techniques and areas to explore.

Rountree Gallery’s Artist of the Month display is at Clare Bank, located at 345 W. Pine St., Platteville. Artists are selected for this display from Rountree Gallery’s Annual Spring Exhibit.
