PLATTEVILLE — A 35-year-old Platteville man pleaded not guilty in Grant County Circuit Court in Lancaster Monday to 12 charges of theft from his church.

Mark L. Mandurano, 1365 Cody Parkway apartment 204, pleaded not guilty to one count of felony theft, one misdemeanor count of theft in a business setting, and 10 counts of misdemeanor theft.

A status conference will be held March 26 at 10 a.m. The trial is scheduled to begin April 9.

According to Platteville police, $17,250 was taken from two accounts of Lutheran Church of Peace without authorization since February.

Mandurano was arrested Nov. 9, and, according to police, “admitted to making unauthorized withdrawals from one of the accounts and using the money for personal reasons.”

Mandurano faces 3½ years in prison and $10,000 in fines on the felony theft charge, and nine months in jail and $10,000 fines for each of the misdemeanor charges.

Mandurano is free on a $1,000 signature bond.
