GAYS MILLS - Put on your hat and pull on your cowboy boots and come on down to Gays Mills for the 20th Annual Little Britches Rodeo to be held on Saturday, May 12 and Sunday, May 13 at the Crawford County Fairgrounds.  

There will be plenty of action from the wild and wooly mutton bustin’ for those under six years of age to the bull riding. Little Britches Rodeo contestants range in age from 6 to 18. This event is sponsored by the Ridge and Valley Rodeo Club.

Hopefully, the weather will be a little better than 20 years ago, when authorities arrived on the scene and told rodeo organizers to stop everything immediately, as a fast moving storm approached.

There have been some changes over the years. The Ridge and Valley Rodeo Club is no longer responsible for keeping all the written records. Now, a secretary hired by Little Britches enters the record onto a computer.

The performances will start at 9 a.m. and cost spectators $5 per day. The starting time was moved up last year to accommodate the increased amount of rodeo participants.

The announcer for the rodeo will again be Pam Shaw from the Ridge and Valley Rodeo Club.

Some of the local rodeo performers expected for this year’s event are Jaren Grimsled, Gays Mills; Arlie and Caleb Clifton, Bloomington; Blake, Clint and Kendra Mitchell, Boscobel; Reid Hunter, Wauzeka; Carleen, Morgan and Caydee Chappell, Boscobel; Destine Braun, Ferryville; Mya Riniker, Prairie du Chein; Josi Bishop, Westby; Ella Sanders, Steuben; Natalie Nordman, Viola; and Kenlinn Byl, Boscobel. Don’t miss your chance to see all of this local talent at the Ridge and Valley Rodeo this Saturday and Sunday.

There will be lunch featuring brats, burgers and the all fixings on the grounds, served by the North Crawford Wrestling Club.
