Boscobel Schools Superintendent Tom Woznicki is among three finalists for the Pecatonica School District’s recently re-defined, re-posted and now-combined position of Superintendent/Elementary Principal. A decision by the Pecatonica School Board could be made as early as this week.

The other two finalists are William Chambers, current Administrator and Director of Special Education in South Wayne at Black Hawk Schools, and Christy Larson, currently the K-12 principal at Belmont Schools.

Clauer resignation

The Boscobel School Board accepted the resignation of 7-12 band instructor Tammy Clauer when it met Tuesday, May 6. Clauer had received a letter of non-renewal when the board met in closed session on April 15. Boscobel Junior/Senior High School will have two new faces in the music department next year, as the board had previously accepted the resignation of 7-12 choral instructor Sandy Johnson.

School calendar

During a brief special meeting Monday night, the Boscobel School Board finalized the 2013-14 school schedule. The Wisconsin State Legislature recently passed a law exempting school districts from the 180-day school year requirement, instead basing it on hours of instruction. Now Boscobel and other Wisconsin school districts will not have to make up snow days at the end of the school year if they have the required hours of instruction, which Boscobel does. That means Boscobel students will end classes on June 3, three days earlier than had earlier been the case. The last day for teachers will be June 6.

The next regular Boscobel School Board meeting will be Tuesday, May 20 at 7 p.m.
