Sunday, November 10 is your morning to be in Ferryville. If you love pancakes, sausage, gravy and homemade biscuits, scrambled eggs…. plus more…. and you want to support a good cause, you want to be in Ferryville.

Ferryville Vision & Promotion and the Crawford County Tourism Council are joining together to hold a pancake breakfast as a fundraiser for new benches and equipment for Sugar Creek Park and the CCTC projects. The breakfast will be held at the Ferryville Village Hall Community Center from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tickets, available at the doo,) are adults $6, kids (5-12) $3 and kids under 5 are free.

The Sugar Creek Park benches & equipment project provides the growing number of visitors and campers with places to sit comfortably and gather around the playground equipment and also near Sugar Creek. This is one of the three remaining historical camping sites on the Great River Road and is frequently used by bicyclists traveling Highway 35 en route to New Orleans, St. Louis and even Prairie du Chien. Daily, during high season, visitors use the park to pull off and have a picnic, let the kids run and also to just sit, have a cup of coffee, and chat.

Sugar Creek Park is also home to the Market in the Park Farmers Market held every Saturday from May to October each year. Families and groups frequently reserve the two pavilions. Two to four more picnic tables are needed, and two of the large flower barrels were swept away in the 2013 flood, so they are on the list of equipment items as well.

The Crawford County Tourism Council is comprised of representatives from Gays Mills, Seneca, Ferryville, Wauzeka, Prairie du Chien and Soldiers Grove. The CCTC works to promote Crawford County and the tourism economy. Programs of the CCTC include the Driftless Area Art Festival, BRAVE Ride, Kickapoo River Cleanup for canoeing, Driftless Wisconsin website (www.driftlesswisconsin.com). Marketing of the attractions in Crawford County is also part of this committee’s work.
