The UW–Platteville Department of Performing and Visual Arts-Theatre and Pioneer Players will continue its 2014–15 production season with Stephen Sondheim’s “Company.”
Performances will be in the Richard and Helen Brodbeck Concert Hall Wednesday, April 8 at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, April 9 through Saturday, April 11 at 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, April 12 at 2 p.m.
According to the production’s director, Dr. Ann Dillon Farrelly, associate professor of theatre at UW-Platteville, the story in this musical comedy revolves around Bobby — a single man with commitment issues — the five married couples who are his best friends, and his three girlfriends. Unlike most book musicals, which follow a clearly delineated plot, “Company” is a concept musical composed of short vignettes, linked by a celebration for Bobby’s 35th birthday. This adult-themed musical includes hits, such as “Being Alive,” “Ladies Who Lunch,” and “Side by Side by Side.”
The cast includes Kyle James as Robert; Cody Wisman and Sarah McCraw as Harry and Sarah; Noah Thomas and Sara Mueller as Larry and Joanne; Elliott Frieden and Chirissa Zirbel as David and Jenny; Gwendolyn Haag and Ross Spadaro as Amy and Paul; Joshua Rudesill and Hailey Bradshaw as Peter and Susan; and Savannah Bettin, Megan King and Sandra Polakowski as April, Marta and Kathy. Joining Farrelly are UW-Platteville’s Dr. Susan Savage Day, musical direction; Connie SaLoutos Furlan, choreography; Jeffrey Strange, scenic design; Sarah Strange, costume design; and Danny McMullen, a theatre major graduating in May, lighting design.
Tickets for the production are $11 for general admission, $10 for faculty/staff/seniors, and $6 for students. For tickets and information, contact the University Box Office, 342-1298, or online at tickets.uwplatt.edu.
