Four Viroqua youths were injured in a roll-over crash Nov. 7 in Sterling township.

According to a news release from the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office in Viroqua, 17-year-old Derek Larson was driving on Birch Road when he lost control of his vehicle on a curve. Loose gravel was in the roadway, and Larson’s vehicle went off the road, struck a culvert and overturned.

Larson and one of his passengers, Morgan Oldham, 16, were transported by private vehicle to Vernon Memorial Healthcare in Viroqua to be treated for minor injuries.

Two other passengers, Brittany Dobitz, 16, and Amalia Maceves, no age given, were transported to Vernon Memorial Healthcare by Tri-State Ambulance.

Larson, Dobitz and Maceves were wearing seatbelts, Oldham was not.

The Vernon County Broadcaster of Viroqua reported that the Sheriff’s Office did not immediately have a birth date  for Maceves, a foreign exchange student, on file.

Assisting at the scene were the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department, Wheatland First Responders and Wheatland Fire Department.
