One Vernon County man is dead and another injured following a two-vehicle crash March 7 on Hwy. 131 and Co. P in the town of Whitestown.

According to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office in Viroqua, a vehicle driven by Ronald Mossholder, 76, rural Westby, pulled out from a stop sign on P into the path of a northbound vehicle on 131 driven by Jonathan Perry, 19, Cashton.

Perry’s vehicle struck the driver’s side of Mossholder’s vehicle.

Mossholder, who was not wearing his seatbelt, had to be extricated from his vehicle and was transported to Vernon Memorial Healthcare in Viroqua with unknown injuries. He died March 10 as a result of those injuries.

Perry, who was wearing a seatbelt, was treated and released at the scene.

Assisting at the scene were the La Farge Fire Department and La Farge EMS.

The accident remains under investigation.
