Man killed in U.S. 18 crash

WYALUSING — A 50-year-old Madison man was killed and four people were injured in a crash on U.S. 18 south of Prairie du Chien early Tuesday morning.

Isiaka Barrow died when his truck hit a truck driven by Justin Ambrose, 33, Deville, La., on 18 near Fuller Hollow Road around 2:30 a.m.

According to the Grant County Sheriff’s office, Barrow’s truck was going west when it drifted across the center line on a curve, and it hit Ambrose’s truck, owned by Railroad Controls Limited of Benbrook, Texas, head-on.

Barrow was pronounced dead at the scene. Ambrose was transported to Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien and then taken by Med Flight helicopter to a La Crosse hospital. Ambrose’s passengers — Tyler Waters, 23, Saltillo, Miss., Jerry Hollingsworth, 21, Pineville, La., and Kenny Vestal, 56, Lake Havasu, Ariz. — all were taken to Crossing Rivers Health by West Grant EMS, where they were treated and released.

The crash is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol Technical Reconstruction Unit. The

Sheriff’s Office said the exact cause of the crash is as yet undetermined.

The Mount Hope, Patch Grove and Bloomington fire departments, Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, Prairie du Chien Police and State Patrol assisted the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

U.S. 18 was closed for five hours early Tuesday.
