TOWN OF MIFFLIN — A 26-year-old Crandon man died when his pickup truck collided head-on with a dump truck on Iowa County G south of Rewey Friday morning.

According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, Zachary Lee Shawano was driving north on G around 9:40 a.m. when the truck crossed over into the southbound lane toward the southbound shoulder and into the path of a dump truck driven by Rodney A. Radtke, 57, Mineral Point.

According to the State Patrol, Radtke took evasive action and drove into the northbound lane, but Shawano’s truck went back into the northbound lane and hit the dump truck head on on G at Turnbull Road.

Radtke was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

The Lafayette and Iowa county sheriff’s offices, Belmont and Montfort EMS, Belmont, Livingston and Rewey fire departments, and the Iowa County Highway Department assisted at the crash scene.

The State Patrol is investigating the crash.
