THE CITY of Darlington Police Department is investigating an incident involving a school bus that ended up in the Pecatonica River. At approximately 3:30 a.m. on Feb. 29, an officer was dispatched to the Pecatonica River adjacent to the Main Street bridge for a report of a bus in the river. The investigation into the matter revealed the bus was not occupied at the time of the crash and had actually rolled away from a nearby busing company after slipping out of gear. The bus came to rest with the front end submerged in the river. Nobody was injured and the bus was towed from the scene.
