Alcohol and speed are suspected as factors in a one-vehicle crash early Aug. 9 that  resulted in minor injuries to a 25-year-old Viroqua man.

According to a Vernon County Sheriff’s Office press release, Zachariah Scott was driving on Hwy. 56 near Co. SS in Liberty township at 2:21 a.m. when his vehicle went out of control.

It went off the road on the right. Scott over-corrected to the left. His vehicle then struck a culvert and came to rest against a utility pole.

Scott refused medical treatment for his injuries.

Assisting at the scene were the Viroqua Fire Department, Viola Fire Department, and Tri-State Ambulance.

The accident remains under investigation.
