The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office in Viroqua believes alcohol was a factor in a rollover crash  in Franklin township April 18 that left a West Allis man injured.

In a press release, the Sheriff’s Office said 30-year-old Benjamin Link was westbound on Hwy. 27 at approximately 9:43 p.m. when he lost control of his vehicle on  a curve. It left the roadway, rolled several times and came to rest on its rooftop.

Link was ejected from the vehicle and was found lying in a field.
People passing by noticed the vehicle in the field and contacted the Vernon County Dispatch Center. They also rendered aid to Link, who was breathing but unconscious, before first responders arrived on scene.

Link, who was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident, was taken to Gundersen Health System in La Crosse by Med-Link Air.

The accident remains under investigation.
