Woman crashes vehicle after losing consciousness

A rural Westby woman was taken to Vernon Memorial Hospital  in Viroqua July 21 following a one-vehicle crash in Viroqua township.

According to a news release from the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, Ginger Jacobs, 48, was driving north on US Hwy. 14 at approximately 6:35 p.m. when she lost consciousness,  crossed the median into the south bound lane, went up on the curb at the intersection of West Smith Road, struck a traffic sign and continued into a cornfield.

Assisting the Sheriff’s Office were the Westby First Responders, Westby Police, and Tri-State Ambulance.

The crash remains under investigation.
