Bertha P. Kretche, age 94 years, of Hillsboro, passed away on Monday, Oct. 27, 2014 at Heritage Manor in Elroy, Wis.

She was born on Oct. 5, 1920 to Calvin and Naomi (Stone) Lawrence at Viroqua, Wisconsin.

Bertha was united in marriage to Frank J. Kretche on Nov. 22, 1945 at St. John’s Catholic Church – Dilly, Wis.  They lived for many years in Hillsboro, where they raised their family.  He preceded her in death on Sept. 5, 1999.

Survivors include her children, Ronald (Judy) Kretche of Colorado, Martha Kretche of Hillsboro, Larry (Molly) Kretche of Wonewoc and Mary Lou (Gehl) Brabant of Tomah; grandchildren, Peter (Amy Jo) Kretche, Karen Kretche, Harley Brabant and Calvin Brabant and great grandchildren, Harley Jr. and Jacey Jo Brabant.

In addition to her husband, Frank; she was preceded in death by her parents; son, Frank Jr.; brothers, Orlin, Isaac and John Lawrence; and sisters, Goldie Dempsey, Sylvia Nida and Grace Taylor.

Funeral Services were held on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Hillsboro, with Father Don Bauer officiating.  Burial was in the Mount Vernon Cemetery in Hillsboro.  Friends called at the Church on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m.  The Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro assisted the family.
