Bruce Oellerich

Bruce A. Oellerich, age 69 of Maricopa, Ariz. formerly of Shullsburg, passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 at Hospice of the Valley in Chandler, Ariz. after a short illness.  He was born Nov. 22, 1946 in Rock Island, Ill. the son of Harold and Gertrude (Bauer) Oellerich.  Bruce graduated from Shullsburg High School in 1964 and later from University of Wisconsin Platteville in 1969 with his degree in marketing.  He was united in marriage to Lynne McAloon on Aug. 31, 1968 in Shullsburg.
Bruce served in the Army for 2 years in Germany after graduating from college. He and Lynne lived in Germany during this time and were able to tour Europe.  Bruce had many hobbies such as golf, tennis, boating, scuba diving, traveling, photography and woodworking.  He collected baseball cards, coins and often took his children Eric and Erin to baseball card shows when they were young.  Bruce retired from Intermatic in 2003 after 21 years as a Marketing Manager.  After retirement he and Lynne spent years traveling across America visiting landmarks, national parks, and family. Bruce used his love for photography during their travels to take amazing photographs of all of the beautiful sites they visited.   In 2004 Bruce and Lynne moved to California where they cherished their time spent with their granddaughter Makayla. He and Lynne finally settled in Maricopa, Ariz. in 2011 where they have resided since.  Bruce was a selfless man, amazing husband and wonderful father and grandfather.
Bruce is survived by his wife Lynne of 47 years; two children: Eric Paul (Kelly Wilson) Oellerich of Minnetonka, Minn. and Erin (Ross) Oellerich Cook of San Diego, Calif.; and three precious grandchildren: Makayla Cook (10), Capri Cook (3), and Cody Cook (1).  He is further survived by one brother: Wayne (Judy) Oellerich of Lena, Ill.; two sisters: Elaine Roling of Dubuque, Iowa and Lyn (Doran) Hines of Springfield, Mo.; two sisters-in-law: Paula (Jim) Teasdale and Sue (Tim) Decker; three brothers-in-law: Mark (Eva) McAloon, Randy McAloon, and Tim (Tracey) McAloon, many cousins, nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Gertrude Oellerich; two sisters: Carol Klaus and Mary Teresa Oellerich; and father and mother-in-law Paul and Miriam McAloon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church (344 N. Judgement Street, Shullsburg) with Rev. Joji Reddy officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthew’s Cemetery where military graveside rites will be accorded by McCann-Richards American Legion Post #105 of Shullsburg. A visitation will be held Friday, March 18, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erickson Funeral Home (235 N. Judgement Street, Shullsburg) and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at ericksonfuneralhome.com.  
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Bruce’s name.
