Cody Steven George, 21, of Soldiers Grove, left this life on Sunday, June 10, 2012.

He was born on Thursday, August 30, 1990 at Vernon Memorial Hospital to Diane Fortney and Steven George of Soldiers Grove.

Cody was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Soldiers Grove. He graduated from North Crawford High School in 2009. He was now starting his own taxidermy business. Cody loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and riding his motorcycle. He enjoyed his dogs Jewell and Champ and also two coon hounds Bud and Penny. He enjoyed all his hunting, fishing good times with his best friend, Pat Schendel of Soldiers Grove.

He was an active member of the Societies’ Sons Motorcycle Club of the Kickapoo Valley.

Cody’s precious daughter, Sophia, was born on February 10, 2012. She was his pride and joy and he enjoyed every minute he had with her.

He is survived by his daughter, Sophia Lynn and girlfriend Samantha Dolezel of Soldiers Grove; his mother, Diane Fortney (Greg Bakkestuen) Viroqua; his father, Steven (Dana) George, Soldiers Grove; his sister, Sheena (Tyler Halverson) and brother, Jason Abernathy; his grandparents; Ruth Fortney and the late Clifford Fortney and Karen George and the late Richard George, both of Soldiers Grove; uncles, aunts, cousins, and his extended family, Shane Bakkestuen, Tiffany Brown and Michelle Brown.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 13 at 2 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Soldiers Grove. Pastor Pete Beckstrand officiated and burial was in the Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends called at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of services.
