Eugene F. “Gene” Hasken, 82, of Dickeyville, died Saturday, April 22, 2017, at home.  Services were 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City with Pastor Stephanie Malin officiating.  Burial was in Hillside Cemetery in Lancaster.  A visitation was from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home before the service.
Gene was born on Feb. 22, 1935, in Galena, Ill., the son of Francis and Mary (McCabe) Hasken.  He married Norma J. Roesch on April 12, 1958.  She preceded him in death on June 6, 2016.  Gene worked as a driver for 7-UP Bottling and for John Deere Dubuque Works for 30 years retiring in 1995.  He served in the Army National Guard.
Gene was a meticulous person who took pride in detailing his vehicles and taking care of his yard and garden.  He enjoyed playing euchre and loved sweets, particularly good desserts.  Family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was very important to him.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy (Bob) Schroeder, of Kieler and Judy (Craig Seeley) Downs, of Dickeyville; a son, Bob (Amy Westemeier) of Dickeyville; nine grandchildren, Amanda (Matt) Lange, Craig (Maria) Schroeder, Raymond (Alisa Brown) Downs, Michael (Andrea Hanger) Downs, Kaitlin (Mike) Harty, Megan and Justin Hasken, Julianne Cunningham, and Mackenzie (Morgan Steger) Cunningham; and eight great-grandchildren.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father-in-law, Clark and Vida Roesch;  a son-in-law, Ken Downs; a daughter-in-law, Julie Hasken; a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Donald Plear; and a nephew, Tim Plear.
A Eugene F. “Gene” Hasken Memorial Fund has been established.
