Irene Rhodes, 1931-2020

Irene W. Rhodes, 88, of Onalaska, passed away Friday, March 13, 2020 at the Onalaska Care Center. She was born April 3, 1931 to Fred and Clarice (Lester) Bacon in Gays Mills, Wisconsin. Irene graduated from the Gays Mills High School in 1949 and attended Coleman Vocational School in 1966. She worked at St. Francis (Franciscan Skemp) Hospital as a licensed Practical Nurse upon graduation until she retired.

Irene married Gene Hayward Rhodes in 1951 and together they raised three sons.

She is survived by sons, Kenneth (Oahn) of Circle Pines, Minnesota, and Keith (Denise) of Onalaska; granddaughter, Jade (Marshal) Mili of Pierre, South Dakota; sisters-in-law, Janice (Herb) Rhodes of California, and Sharon (Bernie) Wiesenberger of Puyallup, Washington; and brother-in-law, Walter (Joyce) Lee of Rushford, Minnesota. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and special friends, Richard and Geri Gauger of St. Charles, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; son, Frank; her parents; her sisters and brothers; her sisters in law, Delores (Merlin) Bacon of Racine, Wisconsin, and Joyce (Walter) Lee, of Rushford, Minnesota; and two grand dogs, Sabre and Lakota.
