Leo Badertscher, age 64 of Darlington passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. He was born Oct. 17, 1951 in Darlington the son of Otto and Alma (Ast) Badertscher. Leo grew up and lived in the Darlington area. He worked with his father in the family business at Swiss Chalet on Highway 23 north. Leo also worked at Hodan Center in Mineral Point from age 16 and was there for 35 years. For 28 consecutive years he looked forward to attending Wisconsin Badger Camp in Bagley.
Leo is survived by four brothers: Paul Badertscher of Darlington, Louis (Olga) Badertscher and John Badertscher both of Kingman, Ariz., and Jim (Shari) Badertscher of Milton; two sisters: Darlene Brightbill of Madison and Sue (Greg) Meier of Waconia, Minn.; and many nieces, nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents in 1987; two brothers: William in 1954 and Robert in 1992; and two sisters-in-law: Sylvia Badertscher in 2011 and Laura Badertscher in 2014.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel United Church of Christ (339 E. Louisa Street, Darlington) with Rev. Craig Simenson of Grace Lutheran Church in Darlington officiating. Burial was in Union Grove Cemetery. A visitation was held Monday, April 11, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Erickson Funeral Home (508 Main Street, Darlington) and from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.
