Peter G “Pete” White, 76, of Benton, died Monday, May 23, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque surrounded by his family.  Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Benton where the parish wake service will be at 2:45 p.m.  Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2016, at St. Patrick’s Church in Benton with Rev. David Flanagan officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Friends may also call from 9:15-10:15 a.m. Friday morning at the church before the service.   Casey Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Benton is in charge of arrangements.
Pete was born on March 24, 1940, in Benton, the son of Charles and Iva (Winters) White.  He graduated from Benton High School in 1959.  On June 20, 1959, he married Mary Alice Rock at St. Mary’s Church in Dubuque, Iowa.  He worked for the Dubuque Packing Company and later was the owner of Benton Feed and Farm Supply for 31 years.
Pete served as the Benton Village President for eight years and was a member of the Benton Fire Department, the Benton Booster Club, and a key member of Rocky’s Bar in Benton.  He was a longtime member of Rocky’s Bar Bowling Team and softball and fastpitch ball teams.  Pete was a lifelong fan of the White Sox, a Packers fan, and supporter of Benton athletics.  He was also an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his four children, Jeff (Dana) White, of Chandler, Ariz., Tim (Donna) White, of Benton, Lisa (Tim) Roelke, of Spring Green, and Gretta (Shawn) Stilson, of Benton; seven grandchildren, Séamus and Fisher White, Michael and Ben White, and Kayla, Maggie and Sophie Dougherty; and three step-grandchildren, Heather Dougherty, Jared Charnas and Ty Stilson.  He is also survived by two sisters, Leah Richards, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Jeanette Wilford, of Platteville; and a brother Jim (Sue) White, of Cuba City.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice; a son, Michael Joseph White; and a sister, Elizabeth Woods.
A Peter G. “Pete” and Mary Alice White Memorial Fund for Benton High School scholarships has been established.
