Wanda Wiegel
1948 - 2016
WWiegel

Wanda Mae (Broge) Wiegel, age 68 of Darlington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016 at Agrace HospiceCare in Janesville.  She was born in Monroe on September 15, 1948 the daughter of Clifford and Lillian (Bergum) Broge.  As a young child, Wanda grew up on farms near Monroe and later South Wayne.  She was active in 4-H, attended Porter School through 8th grade, and graduated from South Wayne High School in 1966.
Wanda met Duane Wiegel in 4-H and began dating years later.  On July 25, 1970 they were married at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington.  Her family continued to grow with the birth of Michelle (1971), Kimberly (1978), and Jennifer (1983).  Duane’s job took the family from Wisconsin to Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, and back to various areas of Wisconsin.  With each move, Wanda cultivated new friendships and work experiences, eventually settling back “home” in the Lamont area—close to both sides of the family.
Her hobbies included scrabble and crosswords, genealogy, flower gardening, and bird watching.   Her favorite times were spent laughing and playing with her children and grandchildren. Family was most important to Wanda—husband, children, siblings, parents—she was always available to them.
Wanda is survived by her husband of 46 years: Duane Wiegel at home; two daughters: Michelle (David) DeVoe and grandchildren, Allison and Sawyer of Milton, Jennifer (Joshua) Cox and grandchildren Emma and Molly of Belleville; one sister: Gloria (Ardell) Kopp; two brothers: Marvin (Ellen) Broge and Gaylord (Jean) Broge; one half-brother Will Broge; and several nieces and nephews and large family of in-laws and friends.  She was preceded in death by daughter Kimberly, father Clifford Broge, mother Lillian Phillips, father-in-law, Charles Phillips, her mother and father in-law Elmer and Hildegarde Wiegel, and sister Rita Foley.
