William C. (Bill) Lacke, age 63 of Shullsburg, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017, at his home in Shullsburg. He was born Nov. 13, 1953, in Shullsburg, the son of Clarence and Eileen (Gough) Lacke. Bill graduated from Shullsburg High School in 1972 and later earned his Master Plumbing License. He was united in marriage to Kathleen H. Spillane on March 11, 1995, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Shullsburg.
Bill is survived by his wife Kathy of Shullsburg; step-son: Toby (Erin) Spillane of Shullsburg; his granddaughters who were the lights of his life: Reva and Stella Spillane; three brothers: Norbert (Mary Ann) Lacke of Winter Haven, Fla., Pat (Sue) Lacke Oregon, and Bob Lacke of Cambridge; two sisters: Kate (Bob) Thompson of Pewaukee, and Sally (Jim) Zisser of Janesville; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Jim Lacke, sister Ann Loomis, and sister-in-law Barb Lacke.
Bill owned and operated Lacke Plumbing and Heating from his world headquarters in Shullsburg. During his many years in the plumbing business, Bill will be remembered for his honesty and integrity.  He had particular respect for his customers and went out of his way to do the best job possible for them.  Bill was a compassionate and caring person and will always be remembered for his acts of kindness and generosity.
Bill’s creative spirit was evident in many areas of his life.  He had a flair for art and design.  He enjoyed his woodworking hobby and created many beautiful pieces in his workshop.
Music was another creative outlet for Bill. He played many brass instruments, but his true love was his guitar.  His years with the Fever River String Band provided him with many good friends and great memories.
We cannot remember Bill without recalling his amazing sense of humor.  No one liked a good joke better than Bill. He had the unique ability to see the humor in many of life’s challenges.
A time of Family Remembrance was shared at 9:30 a.m. followed by A Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church (344 Judgement Street, Shullsburg) where Rev. Sudhakar Devarapu officiated.  Burial was in St. Matthew’s Cemetery in rural Shullsburg. A visitation will be held Friday, October 20, 2017 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church where a rosary was prayed at 3:45 p.m.  A visitation was also held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday.
