Platteville's Tyler Sasse had a banner night at last Tuesday's Pioneer High School Invitational at UW–Platteville. The standout sophomore won the boys’ high jump (pictured), finished second in the triple jump and third in the long jump to lead the Hillmen at the 14-team meet, the second event under new Platteville head coach Russ Yurs.

Sasse cleared 5'10" to win the high jump, bounded 38'8.5" to finish second in the triple jump and soared 19'4" to place third in the boys long jump. Sasse is one of Platteville's improving athletes, that coach Yurs said will make a big jump this year in his second high school season of track and field.

HONORABLE MENTION (in alphabetical order):
Tim Bailey, Sr., Riverdale track and field
Riverdale senior Tim Bailey broke a pair of 30-year old school records at last Saturday's Cashton Indoor Invitational at UW–La Crosse. Bailey blazed to record-setting wins in the boys' 55-meter dash (6.62 seconds) and the 200 meters (23.22) breaking Riverdale school records, which were set in 1994. 

Maddy Hill, So., P, Lancaster softball
Hill went 2-for-3 and led off the bottom of the seventh inning, which eventually became the winning run when courtesy runner Amelia Johnsen scored on Aleah Jackering's walk-off pop up, which was dropped by Iowa–Grant. Hill also earned the win in the pitcher's circle, allowing two earned runs on seven hits and three walks, while striking out 11. She carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning.

Kaylee Peterson, Sr., Ithaca/Weston track and field
Peterson won both the girls' 55-meter-dash (7.66 seconds) and the 800 (2:28.93) to lead the Ithaca/Weston girls track and field team to a ninth place team finish at last Saturday's Cashton Indoor Invitational at UW–La Crosse.

Maddy Udelhofen, So., OF, Potosi/Cassville softball
Sophomore outfielder Matty Udelhofen went 3-for-4 with an RBI, five stolen bases and four runs scored to lead the Chieftains’ offense. Udelhofen reached on an error to lead of the bottom of he first, stole second and scored on an RBI double by Alayna Kerkhoff. Udelhofen singled to lead off the bottom of the third, stole second and scored on an RBI triple by sophomore catcher Madi Weber. Udelhofen had an RBI single in the fourth to make it 6–0, stole second and scored on an RBI triple by Wynne Siegert. Udelhofen single to lead off the bottom of the fifth, stole second and later scored on a passed ball to end the game via the 10-run rule.
