Darlington's Claire Scott scored 18 points and pulled down 19 rebounds in the Redbird's 60-39 victory over Benton-Shullsburg.

PERFORMERS OF THE WEEK (Feb. 1-7)

BOYS BASKETBALL – PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Alex Droessler, sr., C (Benton) – In the Zephyrs' 56-54 victory over Potosi on Thursday, Feb. 2, Droessler scored 16 points, pulled down five rebounds and had three of his team's 10 steals. With the win, Benton moved into a firt-place tie with the Chieftains, both 6-2 in the Six Rivers West conference.

GIRLS BASKETBALL - CO-PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Claire Scott, jr., F (Darlington) – scored 18 points and pulled down 19 rebounds in Darlington's 60-39 non-conference victory over Benton-Shullsburg and followed that with nine points and 11 rebounds in a loss to Cuba City.

Chloe Pustina, fr. G (Cuba City) - sank 14-of-15 free throw attempts and scored nine of her game-high 22 points during a 12-0 run to start against Darlington. Pustina led the Cubans to a 59-35 win on their home floor.

WRESTLER OF THE WEEK

Bart Kluesner, sr. (River Ridge-Cassville) - Kluesner placed second in the 113-pound weight class at last weekend's Scenic Ridge & Rivers Conference Meet. After pinning his first opponent in a time of 1:15, he defeated Austin Moenck of Cashton by a narrow margin of 4-3. In his championship match, Kluesner was pinned in the second period by Josh Marten of Brookwood, the ninth-ranked wrestler in the state at that weight and division.

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Benton Boys Basketball Team - Needing a win to stay in contention for their sixth-straight conference title, the Benton boys basketball team collected a 56-54 victory over visiting Potosi last week. With the win, coach Jim Blaine's team slipped into a first-place tie with the Chieftains, both at 6-2 in conference play.
