In the semifinals the Pioneers prevailed against a very tough University of Iowa club by the final score of 14–12 with a score in the final minutes of play.
UWP went on to win the Mudfest championship match against the Milwaukee Black & Blue men’s team 37–10.

UW–Platteville rugby has two seasons, spring and fall, with the spring season being made up exclusively of tournament play in Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois.
The fall season consists of an eight-game collegiate schedule with matches on Saturdays in September and October.
Mudfest is a unique tournament as it pools together both collegiate and men’s teams in the same tournament.
Mudfest began in 1985.
