The 14-member Fennimore girls track and field team won 10 events, set two meet record and scored 186.5 points to win last Friday’s River Ridge Timberwolves Invitational.

PATCH GROVE — The Fennimore girls track team won 10 events, set two new meet records and piled up 186.5 points to win the team title at Friday’s nine-team River Ridge Timberwolves Invitational.

Senior Brynlee Nelson set a new meet records in the 400 with a winning-time of 1:00.9 and the long jump (16'6.5"). Nelson also won the 800 (2:27.98) and the high jump (5'0").

Junior Delanee Klass broke a meet record in the 100 hurdles with a winning time of 16.54 seconds, to help the Fennimore girls win the team title with 186.5 points. She also won the 300 hurdles in 51.16 seconds.

Senior Lauryn Bunn won the 1,600 and placed second in the 800, and the Fennimore girls swept the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 relays.

Senior Tristan Ammon won the boys 110-meter hurdles in 18.57 seconds to lead the Fennimore boys, who placed sixth with 49 points.

The Golden Eagles were back in action Monday afternoon when they hosted the Fennimore Invitational. 

The FHS girls won six events and scored 96.33 points to place second at the 14-team event.

The quartet of seniors Brynlee Nelson and Bunn, Klaas and freshman Braycee Nelson won the girls’ 4x400 relay with a new meet record time of 4:18.95.

Brynlee Nelson, Bunn and Klaas, along with 2019 FHS graduate Maddy Adam, won the WIAA Division 3 state championship in the 4x400 relay t wo years ago.

Brynlee Nelson also won the girls’ 400 (58.89), long jump (16’9”) and triple jump (34’3.5”). Klaas won the 100 hurdles (17.08) and 300 hurdles (49.55) and placed 17th in the long jump (13’1”). Bunn finished second in the girls 800 (2:30.64) and fourth in the 400 (1:04.80).

Freshman Izzy Bender placed second in the girls high jump (4’8”).

Ammon led the Fennimore boys with a second-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles (18.07). He also placed seventh in the long jump (18’4.5”), and was on the seventh-place 4x100 relay (51.97) with freshmen Brennen Freymiller, Riley Foreyt and Alejandro Bonilla.
