Lancaster Chamber of Commerce/WGLR Golf Tournament

Saturday, Aug. 15, 8:30 a.m. at Lancaster County Club

     The Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and Lancaster High School golf teams will be hosting the Lancaster Chamber/WGLR Golf Tournament Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the Lancaster Country Club.

     Registration for the two-person best shot tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start set for 9 a.m. Cost of the tournament is $45 for country club members or $55 for non members.

     There will be hole contests, door prizes and a silent auction following golf.

     The prep football season kicks off this weekend with a number of area scrimmages. Here is a list of local teams and their scrimmage locations

Fennimore Wrestling Association Slow Pitch Softball Tournament and Bean Bag Tournament

Friday, Aug. 14 and Saturday, Aug. 15 at Stizter Park

     The Fennimore Wrestling Association will host an eight-team Slow Pitch Softball Tournament Friday and Saturday. First-round games start at 6 p.m. Friday night, with second round games begin Saturday morning at 10 a.m. There will be a food/beverage stand all weekend, as well as a 50/50 raffle, a bean bag raffle and a D.J. both Friday and Saturday nights from 8 p.m to midnight. The wrestling association will also host a bean bag tournament Saturday afternoon. Registration for the bean bag raffle.

Prep volleyball, cross country and soccer practice begins

Monday, Aug. 17

     Practice for volleyball, cross country and boys' soccer athletes begin Monday for teams throughout the state.
